Glenlochy Single Malt Whisky
Glenlochy opened for business in 1898 under the mouth-filling name of Glenlochy-Fort William Distillery Company Limited.
Glenlochy and its two stills where among a dozen distilleries closed by SMD in the early 1980's. In April 1986, application to demolish was lodged with Lochaber District Council. The application was rejected and for several years the buildings fell into neglect and decay.
In 1992 the site was sold to West Coast Inns Ltd, a local hotel group. The pagoda roofed maltings and kilns; which were listed, have been preserved and are part of the new complex.
