Dr Bill Lumsden, mastermind behind Glenmorangie whisky joined the company in 1994 as Distillery Manager. During this time Glenmorangie has successfully experimented with a wide range in whisky styles in particular different types of wood finishes, with the core expressions finished in Port, Madeira and Sherry.
Now head of blending Dr Bill Lumsden has taken perfection to the next level travelling to the Ozark Mountains in Missouri, USA, to personally hand selects slow growth oak trees to be used in Glenmorangie ‘designer casks’.
There have always been sixteen men of tain who are all custodians of the secret of Glenmorangie. The traditional skills and experience that they learn are passed through time, from old hands to new; ensuring that every glass of Glenmorangie poured is as wonderful now as it was then.
The company is now owned by fashion and drink giants Louis Vuitton Moet-Hennesy, the company bought Glenmorangie PLC in January 2005 for 300 million.
