Benromach 15 Year Old - Abbey Whisky Tasting Notes
Nose: Smoke and ginger coming through, but a lot slower than the 10 year old. Feels rather sophisticated, a lot more defined and delicate flavours on the nose. Orange peel, figs, prunes, cedar, a little 'nutty'. Lot's of lovely sherried notes. Can't help but think this dram would go really well with a strong blue cheese & honeycomb? Debatable, must try this next time I have some blue cheese to hand...
Palate: Lots of spice, ginger, white pepper on first taste. Not as much smoke. A little fight going on with the rich fruity/sherried notes trying to push to the front of the spice, but struggling to make way! Figs, soaked sultanas, orange peel, dark chocolate, burnt sugar. Pepper still lingering in the background.
