A companion release to cask #900018, this Burnside 14 Year Old forms the second half of Woodrow’s of Edinburgh’s Port Cask Comparison Project, a duo of teaspooned Balvenie single malts matured under identical conditions, save for the style of Port cask used. After an initial decade in traditional oak, the whisky was re-racked for three years of secondary maturation in a 1st fill Tawny Port hogshead, then bottled at 52.0% vol. The result offers deeper, nuttier tones, dried fruit, toffee, and gentle oak warmth, contrasted beautifully with the fresher fruit character of its Ruby-finished sister cask.

Just 300 bottles were filled, non-chill filtered and natural in colour. Together, these two casks invite a rare side-by-side tasting of Port’s influence on Speyside’s understated elegance.
