'Untold Riches', an unpeated 28 year old Bunnahabhain, created by combining Islay single malt matured in a combination of 31 casks (hogsheads and sherry butts). Bottled by Wemyss Malts at 49.1% vol.
Tasting Notes
Bunnahabhain 28 Year Old Untold Riches - Producer Notes
Colour: Walnut
Nose: An initial aroma of cracked leather, dusty books and antique wood reveals the decades of cask maturation. Dark fruits, maraschino cherries and orange oil all develop like a gourmet Black Forest Gateau.
Palate: Full bodied and smooth with demerara coated walnuts and pecans mingling with plums, dates, banana bread and stick toffee pudding sauce. Hints of salinity and mineralic notes come through as salted caramel or waxy honey.
Finish: Mild spice hints of saffron, clove and nutmeg. Gentle wood smoke and salted caramel lingers for many seconds.
