Just tasted - Kavalan Solist Bourbon Cask B100924080A
Released as part of the Kavalan Solist whisky range, a single cask bottling matured in hand selected American ex-bourbon casks. Single cask B100924080A, 171 bottles filled from cask at 57.8% vol. Abbey Whisky Tasting Notes... What a beautiful aroma, very delicate - yet so refined. Nutmeg & clove combine with dried banana, mango & vanilla fudge. Decadent coconut ice cream. On the mouth it's very easy going, extremely palatable. Soft spices - white pepper, nutmeg & cloves. Subtle vanilla, creamy malt, very smooth (Sorry Joshua). I want to say chewy but it's not - it's just full bodied, very slight dryness with some intense fruit coming in towards the end... The finish is very long, the spice doesn't want to leave, which is great. Tickles away, along with vanilla & the aroma from a fresh bag of fruit from the local greengrocer. I've tried a number of these Bourbon Solist drams from Kavalan and find them incredibly enjoyable. Underrated - a very well developed and sophisticated dram, which should be explored more by all - very rewarding.
