Whisky Review - Kilchoman Port Cask Matured 2014 Release

Kilchoman Port Cask Matured, the first of its kind released from the distillery. Fully matured in ex ruby port casks allowing for the full influence of the port casks to be imparted into the whisky. A limited edition release, bottled at 55% abv. Kilchoman Port Cask Matured - AW Tasting Notes IMG_9718 Nose: Sweet perfumed smoke, big rush of lemon peel, stewed plum, wild raspberry, redcurrants, milk chocolate and nutmeg combined with a touch of eucalyptus and slight earth notes lingering... Palate: Malty-peat smoke, ashy, finding it not as fragrant as the nose...Lemon citrus coming through along with mixed berries, overripe strawberries and nutty chocolate - Mouth coated with ash in a really good way...beautiful! Finish: Big finish. Slightly chewy, the peat smoke just keeps on coming with citrus peel and hints of red berries lingering in the background. Comments: Another absolutely fantastic release from Kilchoman distillery. Can't get enough of this dram. Shame it's now all sold out!
