The beginning of a new era in Japanese whisky, this inaugural release from Chichibu Distillery II offers a rare first glimpse into the future of Ichiro Akuto’s distilling legacy. Crafted in Saitama and matured for four to five years in a selection of casks, predominantly bourbon barrels, this bright and expressive single malt showcases the emerging house style of Chichibu’s second distillery. Unlike its famed predecessor, Chichibu II introduces a distinctive character through its direct-fired stills and French oak washbacks, producing a richer, fuller bodied spirit without sacrificing the hallmark elegance for which Ichiro’s whiskies are celebrated. Expect a vibrant balance of orchard fruit, soft vanilla and gentle spice, carried on a youthful yet refined malt backbone.
An historic first bottling and a must have for admirers of modern Japanese craftsmanship, this release marks the opening chapter of what promises to be another remarkable Chichibu story.
