From the Symington’s Choice range by Signatory Vintage comes this exceptional single cask Mortlach, distilled in 2008 and matured for 17 years in a first fill bourbon barrel. Drawn from Cask #800115 and bottled at a natural cask strength of 55.9% ABV, this release shows Mortlach’s robust, savoury spirit in full focus, layered with sweetness from fresh American oak. Only a limited number of bottles were produced, each presented un-chillfiltered and natural in colour.
Released alongside sister cask #800123, the pair offer a fascinating opportunity to compare two whiskies distilled in the same year and matured in near identical conditions, subtle differences or indeed more, that make single cask whisky so compelling.
