This remarkable limited edition from Old Perth is the result of pure serendipity. Back in 2015, a rare vatting brought together two of Scotland’s most iconic single malts, one from Highland Park (distilled in 2004, then already over a decade old) and the other from Macallan, of considerably greater age. What began as an unexpected union was transferred into sherry casks for long term maturation, creating an accidental masterpiece that has matured beautifully over time. Earlier expressions were seen as 12, 13 and 14 year old releases, each one warmly received. Now, at 21 years of age, this whisky has reached a new level of depth and refinement.
Richly sherried, layered, and complex, this is a fitting addition to the Old Perth range and a perfect example of their commitment to quality cask selection and authentic sherry cask maturation.
