Ardnamurchan's first venture into Tokaji finishing sees unpeated bourbon barrels, filled in 2018, re-racked into Hungarian Tokaji casks in early 2024. The result is an 8 year old single malt that showcases what the distillery's unpeated distillate can do when given something genuinely different to work with. Bottled at 52% ABV in 2026, the whisky leads with floral sandalwood and sweet pear before almond richness settles in. Bamboo and white pepper add a lively, funky edge that keeps things from tipping too sweet, a combination that feels characteristically Ardnamurchan: fruit-forward but with real personality underneath. A limited release, and a promising first look at what Tokaji maturation can bring out of the AD/ spirit.
