Here we have the third instalment of the very impressive 15 year old 'Fife Strength' from Francis and Daftmill Distillery. The casks used for this latest expression are mainly 1st fill ex-bourbon barrels but with an exciting addition, one ex-PX cask has been added to the mix! All the casks were distilled June, July or August 2009 and matured in the lower level of warehouse 2 before being bottled December 2024 at 'Fife Strength', 56.3% vol. As far as we can recall we've not seen any Pedro Ximénez sherry casks used for the previous 15 year old or seasonal releases, so this addition is superb and should be another stellar release from Daftmill.

Tasting Notes

Nose

Nose full of the sweet tropical notes we look for but with a rich sweetness.

Palate

Lots of the barley sugar and malt on the palate I look for from his distillate.

Finish

A distinct sweet dark fruit uplift on the finish that lets you know there’s a little sherry in there. A deep, complex lengthy dram that does not need to be black as night to be fantastic.
