This rather special release is the 12th Edition of 100% Islay from Kilchoman distillery, distilled from the 2011, 2012 and 2013 barley harvests then matured for a minimum of 8 years in a combination of bourbon barrels and Oloroso sherry butts. A dram we always look forward to each year. Each part of the process in making this fine dram (grown, distilled, matured and bottled) is done at the distillery itself, magnificent stuff!
Tasting Notes
Awards
Nose
Elegant, sweet peat smoke, followed by waves of citrus and honey, finishing with notes of vanilla and salted caramel.
Palate
A Bourbon-driven 100% Islay brings an initial malt-driven profile followed by green fruits; apple and pear. Light spice, raisin and toffee are present towards the finish.
Finish
Peat smoke returns and remains on the palate. The oily texture of this 100% Islay allows for a creamy profile balanced with toffee and caramelised sugar.
