Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky

A Caol Ila Islay Malt, distilled in 1995 and bottled by Gordon & MacPhail under their Private Collection series. After maturing in traditional casks for nine years, the whisky was transferred to a Madeira cask for further eight years maturation. Bottled in 2012, a limited edition release of 850 bottles.
Madeira is a fortified wine which is subjected to high temperatures for several months in buildings called estufas. During this fermentation period, the wine is allowed to oxidise producing a rich complexity.
