This Daftmill Winter Batch Release is the latest seasonal small batch from this excellent Fife farm distillery. Distilled in 2012 and matured until 2026, this release continues Daftmill’s tradition of carefully composed winter bottlings produced in limited quantities. This year’s batch is notably smaller, with just 3,475 bottles produced. The whisky has been crafted from Lowland single malt matured in a combination of 5 first fill sherry hogsheads and 7 first fill bourbon barrels, then matured in the upper level of the Daftmill warehouse, where the slower maturation environment helps shape the character of the spirit over time. Bottled at 46% ABV, this limited seasonal release is another excellent example of Daftmill’s meticulous approach to whisky making, with the distillery’s hallmark balance between bourbon and sherry cask influence.
