Glengoyne 40 Year Old Tasting Notes
Nose: Cherry compote and toasted almonds form the backbone of its full and fruity aroma. Aromas of navel oranges studded with cloves, drizzled with vanilla cream and served on rich toffee sauce build with time with gentle aromatic spices developing and coming to the fore.
Palate: Juicy and thick with sweetness reminiscent of a rich blackberry liqueur. Warm cinnamon spice and herbaceous tones intertwine with blood red orange citrus and crushed pink peppercorns. Barley sugar gives a nod to the classic spirit character of Glengoyne while the dense, dark fruit - damsons and sloes with baked apples - shows the slow and steady maturation in quality sherry casks.
Finish: Lingering spice and dried fruits - prunes and apricots – envelope the palate long after your last sip.
