Kilchoman Distillery

Founded in 2005 Kilchoman was the first distillery to be built on Islay for 124 years, and is now the most westerly distillery in Scotland.

Located on Rockside farm on the west coast of Islay, Kilchoman is a very traditional distillery and is one of the smallest in Scotland,

Producing 90 to 100,000 litres of alcohol per year, Kilchoman is one of only six distilleries to carry out traditional floor malting's, with around 30% of their production coming from their barley that is grown and malted at the distillery.

Kilchoman spirit is filled into a combination of fresh bourbon barrels from Buffalo Trace Distillery, Kentucky and fresh Oloroso sherry butts direct from Spain.

Most recently Kilchoman celebrated the launch of their 100% Islay Whisky, and with everything going into the production grown or produced on the distillery makes it one of the most exciting new releases in recent times. Two bottles have been released in celebration; A limited edition Inaugural 100% Islay at 50% ABV, and also a beautiful cask strength version that is presented in a hand crafted American white oak box, which was only released at the distillery in very limited numbers..

Islay Whisky

The distilleries in the south of the island, Lagavulin, Ardbeg and Laphroaig produce the most strongly flavoured, phenolic whiskies in Scotland.

The distilleries to the north, Kilchoman, Bunnahabhain, Bowmore, Caol Ila and Bruichladdich tend to be of a lighter character.
