Late last year independent Scottish spirits brand Whisky Souls released their first batch of 40 year old blended Scotch, which went down a storm, as it was an exceptional dram released at an even better price point. This is batch 2, which has similarities to batch 1 where the blend was assembled in 1998 and left to marry for 26 years in an ex-Islay refill sherry butt. Batch 2 has a lower peat influence and has developed more tropical fruit, vanilla and citrus than the previous expression. The spirit for batch 2 has a higher ABV of 45.1% vol and once again has been bottled at non-chill filtered and at natural colour.
