Celebrating a Legacy: Final Release in the Mr. George Legacy Series Marks 130 Years of Gordon & MacPhail
Gordon & MacPhail has announced the fifth and final release in the revered Mr. George Legacy Series; an extraordinary 70 year old single malt Glen Grant that pays tribute to a true pioneer of the Scotch whisky industry, Mr. George Urquhart.
The Father of Single Malt
Referred to by whisky expert Charlie MacLean as 'the father of single malt,' Mr. George was instrumental in championing single malt Scotch at a time when blends dominated the market. This final expression honours his vision, his innovation, and his lifelong dedication to quality and craftsmanship. His commitment to innovation was most famously realised in 1968, when he introduced the iconic Connoisseurs Choice range, making single malts accessible to whisky lovers around the world. Mr. George joined the family business in 1933, representing the second generation of ownership at Gordon & MacPhail. His legacy continues to shape the company’s philosophy to this day, one rooted in patience, precision, and an unwavering respect for tradition.
